Daeil Kim (김대일) is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker born in Seoul, South Korea.
Kim’s short film LOVING DAY, starring Sydney Flanigan, premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival: American Pavilion and won the Audience Award at the 2025 USC Asian Pacific Film Festival.
Kim's cinematography work for THE THINGS WE KEEP premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Kim has served as the director of photography for Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino on the proof-of-concept film for Giacchino’s upcoming feature, Death Vendor.
A recipient of the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant, Kim recently wrapped production on his proof-of-concept short film, Stem, which stars acclaimed Korean actor Yoon Je-Moon.
At 24, Kim co-wrote, directed, and shot his debut feature, WHITE DEMISE (2021), on a lean $14,000 budget. The film, distributed by Gravitas Ventures, premiered on VOD platforms.
Kim’s production company, XYLOGRAPH FILMS has produced award-winning films and commercials for brands such as Red Bull and Dove Cameron x Schwarzkopf.
Kim is a graduate of the USC MFA Film & TV Production Program.
